I wasn't sure were to put this, so if it needs moving, be sure to move it.

I tried to put all the games, but the poll won't let me, so I have to get to the franchise's "branchers". If you like anything else, please say so. Also, specify which game of each branch do you like the most.

Anyway, as for 2D, nothing will get over for me than Sonic 2. The level design was too simple, but many hills and loops, making it extremely fun. I also liked Sonic 3 but... saving, even though it wasn't obligatory... yeah...

The only downside were the Special Stages... ooh how much I hate them... it controls badly and the gimmick itself isn't very fun.

As for 3D, I have to go for SA2.

It was my first Sonic game, and it was very fun. Although about 60% of the game wasn't Sonic or Shadow, the shooting levels were still fun, and the music was awesome. It also has the best plot in all of the Sonic franchise, and the best acting IMO. Also, the chao add a lot of replay value. SA1 comes extremely close, though.

If Unleashed counts in the Adventure Series, then the Adventure Series.

Otherwise, as a series, I like the Storybook games best.

Knuckles Chaotix. Or it could be 3D Blast, I'm not sure.

Wow, people only voted for the 5 classic games and the Adventure series. Woo hoo!

I would like to sit down and play the Advance series(s) all the way through, with all seven emeralds and all. And maybe play Rush again and get everything in Rush Adventure. That still leaves completing Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic '06 (guuh *shivers*), Sonic Riders (ugh), Sonic Rivals (meh?), and he Storybook series (eh).

Hey, no love for Pocket Adventure? Or is that considered a proto-Advanced game? Also, SEGASonic the Hedgehog Arcade gets points for being the only Sonic arcade game (aside from the elusive Sonic Arcade) and being particularly pretty and vibrant. Also goofy Japanese Sonic is funny.

Anyway, if you count them, the classic games are Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic CD, and Sonic 3 and Knuckles.Knuckles Chaotix is a spin-off, and therefore doesn't count.

Also, am I the only one that has noticed that the series has more spin-offs than main games?

I would say Sonic 2 because it was the first Sonic game that I played and I still play it from time to time, and Adventure 2 because I think it's the last "great" Sonic game and it's actually aged pretty well. These both have a lot of replay value.
